Project Warmup Assignment
Before the end of March, you need to sort yourselves into teams to do your class project. Proper teams. Eight people minimum.
Now, here’s the kicker:
- Your grade? It’s literally divided by the number of people in your team. Yeah. Maths. So if you’ve got loads of people, congrats - you’ve just diluted your own effort.
- Diversity matters. Not just seven versions of yourself sitting there in hoodies going, "Yeah, we’re all into Fortnite and crypto." No. Mix it up a bit. Think gender, culture, whatever. Impress me.
Submission Details:
By April 13th, you’re submitting a link to your video right here. Not an attachment, not "Oh, I forgot". A proper, working link. No link, no grade.
Video Requirements:
The video is gonna be half Pecha-Kucha. Don’t know what that is? Google it. But basically:
- 10 slides
- 20 seconds each slide. It runs automatically, so no faffing about with, "Next slide please".
- You can have one person presenting (probably the one who can speak in full sentences) or a whole group. Your call.
The video needs to answer these three things:
- Setup of Surveys: What personal characteristics are you asking about in your class project? And why?
- Data Collection Plan: How are you actually gonna get people to answer you? Where’s this happening? What’s the plan?
- Data Analyses Plan: Once you’ve got all this data, what are the big research questions you reckon you can answer? And how?
Class Screening:
On April 14th, we’re all watching these videos together in class. Hopefully not a cringe fest, but at least you’ll know what the other teams are up to.
And yeah, this actually counts towards your project grade, so maybe put some effort in.
Pro Tip:
You’ve got 20 seconds per slide. That’s like, two sentences. Don’t waffle.
